For the first time since debut, girl group After School will be featured in their very own variety program.

The show, called Play Girlz School, is expected to give full access to the girls’ behind-the-stage stories for the fans around the globe. Also, After School promises to interact with their fans much more during the filming of the program, as they’ve already posted an invitation letter to ask to join them in the show’s opening ceremony pretty soon.

Play Girlz School will be broadcast every Tuesday on MBC every1, starting in July.

It’s been a long time coming, but After School’s very first reality show is just around the corner, and MBC just aired the first television teaser for this upcoming variety program.

Although the first episode has yet to air, Playgirlz School will reveal exclusive behind-the-scenes footage as the members of After School show viewers life both on- and offstage. With the addictive tune of Benny Benassi’s Rock N Rave as the background track, this twenty-second teaser doesn’t actually show much content other than eye candy footage from performances of Bang!, but we do get a peek at what’s to come. Check it out below!



While Raina, Nana and Lizzy are busy with their Orange Caramel promotions and Kahi gears up for her solo debut, this will be a nice way for fans to see the wonderful eight ladies together again. Make sure to tune into allkpop and MBC for more on this upcoming show!

Due to the fact that it’s currently summer, the time for women to show off their sexy bodies in bikinis and men to show off their abs, the top 9 female idols that would look the sexiest while wearing a bikini were ranked and are as follows.

After School’s fierce leader Kahi has always been praised for having a perfectly body, with the combination of her long legs, slim body, and luxurious abs. Despite being the oldest idol on the list, she proves that age is nothing but a number.

DongA Ilbo recently did a study about the duration that idol group members get during their music show performances and their results show that they each get an average of 16s.

The study which was released on the 13th, was based on research done on Music Core (July 10th), Inkigayo (July 11th) and Music Bank (June 25th) on 7 idol groups (SNSD, Super Junior, 4minute, After School, Infinite, f(x), MBLAQ), and the duration of singing time that each member got. The average length of their songs came to around 3m 30s, and if you subtract their harmonization, each member sings just 16s on average.

The shortest length average song belonged to SNSD’s Oh! whose members get an average of 9.4s. Leader Taeyeon had the longest duration lasting 22s. Maknae Seohyun had the shortest though, with just 5s. Her two lines were “Hey oppa look at me, just take a look at me,” and “Oppa, just listen to me.”

As for After School’s Bang!, their members Nana and Lizzy had no solo parts at all. Their lines together with the other members amounted to just 8s.

While for Infinite’s Come Back Again, the main bulk of the song fell on leader, Seong Kyu who had 29s. But Seong Jong, Seong Yeol and L only had 1s, 3s and 4s of solos respectively. Seong Jong only had “It’s all a lie” while Seong Yeol sang just “I feel like dying and my head hurts.”

Critics point out that there are more and more instance of idol groups like this where members get just a few short lines. Although they are weak vocally, they make up for it with their looks and talking ability and thus accorded their privileges as “singers.”

Music critic, Im Jin Ho expressed, “If they each only have just a few seconds, they will definitely neglect their primary duty as a singer and skim on improving their vocals. Members who don’t sing a lot will also develop a feeling of being ostracized and this will affect the overall performance of the group, shortening the group’s lifespan.”

Another critic, Kim Jak Ga said, “Examples of idol groups not putting in effort with their vocals are increasing by the minute and there’s noticeably less breathing space for the ones who have real talent and vocals to survive now.”

After School’s beautiful Jungah and Jooyeon look just plain average next to Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha.

That is because Narsha is looking quite flashy and crazy with the fierce outfit and heavy makeup. This was for Bbi Ri Bop A where Narsha took on a unique and shocking style.

The two After School girls had visited Narsha at her Raise The Volume radio show.

People noticed that Jungah and Jooyeon looked like normal people next to someone like Narsha. They almost seemed like fans.

I think all three of them look beautiful but the picture is a bit funny looking.

On the latest episode of After School’s new variety show Play Girlz School, Nana and Lizzy radiated their cute charms to the world when the girls tried to follow the other After School members into a club, however got rejected due to their young age.

And because they had nothing else to do, Lizzy and Nana roamed the streets, eating street food and being incredibly cute on the way to the photobooth.

As soon as they arrived, they begged the PD for some money in order to operate the machine. This is where Lizzy shows off her extremely talented aeygo skills and forcing the crew to hand over some cash by saying “Can I have some money pleaseee” in the most adorable way.

Remember those sticker photos of Nana and Lizzy released awhile ago via Twitter? It turns out it was for their variety show, and the clip can be viewed below.

As part of After School’s new variety program, Play Girlz School, After School opened up a charity brunch buffet.

On July 15th from 11am, After School’s Brunch School opened at the Broadway Buffet in Songpa-gu Seoul.

All eight members of After School presented their guests with a simple brunch that they had made themselves. There was also an auction event with some of After School’s prized possessions. All proceeds from the auction and brunch sales would be donated to charity at a later date.

Play Girlz School is an imaginary school that After School entered with the motto, “This summer, let’s play till the end!” This is a reality program in which After School experiences the many enjoyable things in Korea for women in their 20’s and 30’s.

After School recently filmed an episode of MBC every1’s Playgirlz School where they performed dance routines to get the show started.

The girls all got warmed up by performing sporty dances. The members split up into two teams, the girls of Orange Caramel and another team titled “giblets and salad team.”

Orange Caramel said, “Fans have been only sending us oranges and caramel.” Then Juyeon and Kahi got the idea of calling themselves giblets and salad since they love those two things. They are now hoping fans will send them those things.

So that’s not an actual sub-group but I’m sure they’ll come out with a real one later.

This episode airs on the 20th.

You would think that the addition of four new members since After School’s debut would be enough, but apparently not for Pledis Entertainment!

The agency is scouting for some new and raw talent and to be the 9th member of popular female idol group After School. A promotional poster has been revealed above and some of the information is as follows,

Auditions will be accepted from July 3oth – August 6th and will consist of four different stages throughout the time period.

Stage 1: August 18th
Stage 2: August 21th
Stage 3: August 25th
Stage 4: August 28th

Winner to be announced on September 1st.

Requirements: Wide range of 10-26 years of age. Korean, Chinese, Japanese, etc.

S:DIVADETENTION

On July 23rd, Kahi and Jungah represented After School and donated about $1670 in proceeds to Save the Children.

These proceeds were gathered from After School’s brunch and auction from last week for their MBC every1 program Play Girlz School.

The members of After School decided to donate the proceeds to Save the Children’s Change the Future program which is dedicated to the development of children dealing with poverty within Korea.

Save the Children chairman Kim stated,

“After School’s recent activity has served to spread the culture of donating to society. Now rather than a passive contribution, supporters have been personally taking an active part in their donations and a culture of donating by volunteering has been forming.”

On the other hand, After School will also be participating in Save the Children’s Hyundai Motor Find the 3 Leaf Clover Hope Camp on July 27th to deliver a message of hope to children.

Cutie baby, Moon Mason (aka little Nichkhun), encountered girl group After School!

During the recording of KBS 3’s Suspicious Men, which is scheduled to air on the 5th, Mason followed Shin Jung Hwan into the KBS building. There, they had a special encounter with After School.

As soon as the After School girls laid their eyes upon Mason, they started to coo and aw at this adorable little boy.

After School got in a car to drive off for a nice vacation on After School Playgirlz.

With Kahi in the driver’s seat, they looked like a family rather than a girl group.

They never seemed to lose their energy because as soon as familiar songs played, they danced and lip synced throughout the whole thing.

When miss A’s Bad Girl, Good Girl came on, all of them knew the dance moves. They all looked in their separate cameras and made enthusiastic facial expressions as if they were filming a music video.

They also supported their company’s other singer, Son Dambi, by singing along to her new song Queen.

On the recent episode of 3 Suspicious Men that aired on the 5th, the angelic baby Moon Mason met the beautiful ladies of After School!

After following Shin Jung Hwan into the KBS building, Moon Mason was immediately welcomed by the squealing fangirls – aka After School. Moon Mason became the man under the spotlight as the After School girls started to coo at this cute little boy.

The girls started feeding Mason some delicious sweet potato pizza, and later on, Mason personally picked the prettiest After School member.

The girls of After School have recently been spotted at Korea’s flagship amusement park, Lotte World. Just like any other typical teenage girls, After School’s gals were all seen having a blast in the park, but still radiating their goddess-like beauty at the same time.

Donning adorable bunny ears instead of their everyday stage clothing, the girls look very lovable. It’s been said that After School visited Lotte World for filming purposes, however, further details haven’t been released yet. My speculation is that it’s probably for their Play Girlz School reality show.

The ladies of After School recently visited popular amusement park Lotte World, and after enjoying their time there, they headed straight to Ocean World to continue filming for their reality show, Play Girlz School.

Jungah was able to get revenge on her fellow members by forcing them to put on an impromptu performance of Bang! and Diva in front of a confused audience.

Kahi seemed to be the most embarrassed, as she used her hair to cover her face during Bang!, and a piece of paper during Diva.

After School members Kahi, JungAh and Jooyeon have stepped out to copy and remake the project unit group Orange Caramel’s Magic Girl MV.

The three girls wore Orange Caramel’s trademark large ribbon and had a filming session teaching the public dance moves to the Magic Girl MV. Kahi especially went out of her way to take the camera and film her dance session with the public, spreading Magic Girl’s dance moves across the playground.

Meanwhile, these three After School member’s remake of Orange Caramel’s Magic Girl will be revealed on the 24th through MBC Every1’s Playgirls School.

Earlier today, we teased you guys with a brief preview of what’s to come on the next episode of Playgirlz School, and it has finally aired today. On this episode, After School members – Kahi, JungAh, and Jooyeon – became Orange Caramel members for a day. They even made their own special MV for Orange Caramel’s bubbly track, Magic Girl.

Gold Typhoon, a big record company in Asia with contracted artist like Show Luo, Elva Hsiao, David Tao etc. which is now also After School’s company, has recently revealed the offical Chinese names for the members.
It seems like AS are going to eventually venture to other Asian countries.

We announced back in July that Pledis Entertainment would be looking for a 9th member for After School through an audition, and it got an overwhelming reaction from everyone.

Pledis has announced this evening that the search for the group’s 9th member has now been narrowed down to just two candidates, who are shown in the photo above.

The public search for the 9th member happened between July 30th to August 16th through blogging tool me2day. After the initial search, the potential candidates went through two stages of auditions – and now only two remain (left – oliviara, right – yooy1288). A representative from the company commented, “Think of it as picking out the 9th member in advance. It is not certain at this point whether they will become a part of After School or not. The final decision will come after training.”

So far, no information other than the photos has been released regarding the two candidates, although the girl on the left looks like actress Park Eun Bin.
