Sylvester Stallone, director and star of the upcoming action movie The Expendables, has revealed in an interview with KBS 2TV’s Entertainment Weekly that he almost cast Hallyu star Rain in his upcoming action flick.



Although Sylvester Stallone hasn’t visited Korea, he admits that he is familiar with some of the people. He adds, “We almost used a Korean actor named Rain. I wanted him to play like [a Chinese actor] Jet Li’s son or his brother or something in there… I thought it would have been great.”

After his take on Ninja Assassin, it could have been another great opportunity for Rain to star with Hollywood’s A-list actors in the much anticipated blockbuster movie. But unfortunately, Rain was busy on his tour and thus, he could not participate during the film making process.

In related news, rumor has it that The Expendables sequel is in the works, could Stallone offer a new role for the Korean actor [Rain] again?

Runaway is shooting abroad at the moment, and these stills taken from the filming location were shot in Osaka. In them, the three main actors — Rain, Lee Na-young, Lee Jung-jin — paused for a brief rest in the hot weather.

The plot puts Rain and Lee Na-young on the run — at stake is a fortune in disappeared cash that has resurfaced for the first time in sixty years — while Lee Jung-jin plays the detective in pursuit. The chase takes them through a number of Asian cities, and the production will move its overseas shoots to Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China after wrapping up in Japan.

I’m still waiting to see how this will be a romantic comedy, but we may have to wait for trailers on that. The drama premieres in September on KBS.

Rain Shoots a CF for SK Mobile



Korea’s sexiest-bodied star Rain recently shot a CF for mobile brand SK Telecom. Looking good in a white wifebeater and suit, the idol’s appearance will surely mean a great increase in sales for the mobile company this summer!

Back in May, Rain signed a lucrative contract with SK Telecom / SK Telesys and endorsed the SK900 W Phone. Now, they’re back with another commercial for the same phone.

The CF shows a bunch of guys dressed up in the same outfit until Rain comes along and puts on some slick dance moves. After the dance routine, Rain says that if you want to stick out from the crowd and get someone’s attention you need to get a W Phone.

World superstar Rain will most likely be participating in a movie remake of Red Scarf which was first released all the way back in 1964.

Although the details aren’t set in stone yet, there’s a very high possibility that he will indeed partake in playing the main character.

Rain had previously received a draft notice, letting him know that he had to enlist in the army on September 28th of this year. But because he will most likely play the main character in Red Scarf, and is also currently obtaining his master’s degree, many expect that the star will be able to postpone the mandatory duties.

Rumors have been floating about Rain’s involvement in a new war movie, Red Scarf.

However, it is not confirmed yet as Rain is in deep thought due to the movie and his upcoming army enlistment date.

Currently, Rain is busy shooting for the upcoming KBS 2TV drama Fugitive which will be aired in September. After finishing the shooting, he is planning to enter military service on September 28th.

With the movie offer, Rain is having second thoughts about enlisting into army this September. Since he is born in 1982, a delay for enlistment is possible. He can still postpone the enlistment date to early next year. According to the plan, Red Scarf was supposed to start filming early next year but it has been pushed back to this November. Therefore, if his enlistment issue is settled, there is a high possibility for Rain to join the movie.

Rain’s management stated, “There have been discussions on this film. We will be able to give them a definite answer near October.” A member of the film’s crew stated, “Nothing has been decided, so there are many things we cannot comment on. We are currently working on creating a synopsis to fit the film’s composition.”

Life is indeed like a wheel that can be at the top or below anytime. For World Star, Rain, it seems that currently he is having his down moments in his career path.

Even when dating rumors between him and Jun JiHyun were still floating around, he got involved in another accusation of ‘eating and running’ after selling J. Tune Entertainment Shares. Another bad luck moment for Rain was his humiliation as a designer after his clothing brand line, 6 to 5 was removed from shopping malls.

Back in 2008 during the brand launching, Rain promised $10,000,000 in sales. Unfortunately, after 2 years, the brand had to be shut down. Currently, 6 to 5’s internet site is having a ‘dumping sale’, selling clothes with discounts from 70% to 90% from the original price.

Aside from the controversy of 6 to 5 investors suing Rain for the loss, it was revealed that Rain actually did not participate in the designing process of the clothes that lead to a failure for foreign sales.

Rain who is currently filming for the upcoming KBS 2TV drama, Fugitive in a foreign country, claimed that he could not return to Korea for time being. Especially when he received a call for army enlistment for September 28th, he then claimed that he could not renew his passport. The series of incidents caused netizens to have unpleasant perceptions towards him.

During the first segment titled Knee-Drop Guru on the August 18th episode of MBC Golden Fishery, singer Se7en made an appearance as the main guest.

During the show, Se7en revealed his competitiveness with world star Rain. He began, “When I was in America, I enjoyed watching Knee-Drop Guru. My favorite episode was the one where Rain made an appearance.”

He then continued, “I was close to making my American debut at the time of the airing of that particular broadcast featuring Rain. Back then, I thought to myself, ‘Just you wait. I will hit success in America as well.’ … When I returned to Korea, I expected a lot of fans and reporters to await me at the airport. But when I returned, the only person waiting for me was my manager.”

Rain gets criticised for his fashion once again.

Rain attended the press conference for his upcoming drama ‘Fugitive’ on 24th August in Mikao City Of Dream. And he was seen with a smart looking dark suit. But when the camera flashes from the reporters’ cameras went on, it was seen that there is special print on his pants just below his belt. Since the prints are at a sensitive area, many netizens had also uploaded the photos of him during the event on online community site criticising the outfit to be obscene.

Meanwhile, the production team of the drama had came out to clarify, “The prints were not placed there on purpose. It was already there when we got it. As for the criticisms against the outfit online, we were taken aback too.”
