Idols composed of girl groups and boys groups have dominated the first half of the year in the music album market. Super Junior’s 4th album and SNSD’s 2nd album had a positive outcome in sales, and of all the albums released in the first half of the year these 2 albums are the only ones that recorded over 100,000 in sales.

In 3rd and 4th place are SNSD’s repackaged 2nd album (48,827 sold) and Super Junior’s repackaged 4th album (45,733 sold) respectively.In 5th place is the 4 membered male idol group 2AM’s mini-album Can’t Let You Go Even if I Die (34,474 sold). In 6th place is Rain’s special album Back to the Basic (33,746 sold). 7th place goes to 6 membered male idol group 2PM’s mini album Don’t Stop, Can’t Stop (29,381 sold). 8th place goes to new face 6 membered male idol group B2ST’s mini album Shock of the New Era (24,236 sold), 9th place is 4 membered girl group Kara’s 3rd mini album Lupin (23,276 sold) and in 10th place is 5 membered male idol group SS501’s mini album Destination (19,790 sold).

Like this, in the first half of this year the idol groups who have dominated TV and the Internet have also shown their strength in the category of album sales.

Amidst all this the album Day of… (19,502 sold) released in mid-May by project group Patio Project, which consists of singer/songwriter Kim DongRyul and Roller Coaster’s Lee SangSoon, is consistently selling and may have a chance to enter the top 10 during the remaining week.

Meanwhile regarding the all-time sales since a singer/team’s debut up til the 22nd, SNSD who released their first album in 2007 with 183,713 albums sold and Super Junior who first stepped onto the music scene in 2005 with 178,038 albums sold respectively took 1st and 2nd place.

After 4 years of hiatus, Daniel Henney finally makes his small screen comeback in Korea through the upcoming KBS TV series Fugitive.



The 30-yr old actor-model has landed a role in Fugitive opposite Rain and Lee NaYoung. According to the source, Daniel gets tangled up in the love triangle between Jinny (Lee NaYoung) and Jiwoo (Rain).

Don’t we all enjoy a good love triangle?

Meanwhile, the series will be filmed in various cities in Seoul, Busan, Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Shanghai, Beijing, Macau and Hong Kong. Talk about its prestigious filming locations and thrilling plot of chasing a fugitive, seems like we’re up for another high-budget TV series.

Rain‘s upcoming drama is picking up a stellar cast!



The “Secret Lovers“ actress isn’t keeping her love of the new KBS drama a secret. Yoon Jin-seo is the latest talented star to join in the chase. She joins fellow actors Rain,Lee Na-young,Lee Jung-jin and Daniel Henney in the upcoming detective project. Jin-seo will portray a quirky and energetic detective paired with Lee Jung-jin’s character. Her duty is to chase after Rain and Lee Na-young characters. I hope she does not get sidetracked and forget about Na-young and continue to pursue the irresistible Rain. It will be hard to stay on track with this steamy male cast. If she forgets about Rain, she still has Daniel and Jung-jin to distract her. This should be one interesting and thrilling drama!

KBS’s “Fugitive” will premiere in September.

We revealed earlier that former Five Girls leader, Gina Choi was going to make a debut as a solo artist.

And ahead of her impending debut in July, it was revealed today that she will have a duet song with Rain and there is much interest with the song set to be released on July 5th.

Her agency expressed, “Gina has shown exceptional talent since her time with Five Girls and despite being a relative rookie, she excels in every field that a solo artist should have, be it dancing, singing or charisma. We are looking forward to her explosive debut and hope that everyone can shower her with love.”

Artist Rain has just released the Japanese version of his popular song, ‘Love Song’ to his loyal listeners!

F(x)’s Victoria and singer Rain has were in a Chinese CF together.



Before Victoria debuted, she was in a Chinese CF with the singer Rain for Samsung’s Anycall phone commercial. She was the female leading role and these pictures captured were titled Victoria’s Past Pictures.

In the full-length CF, Victoria and Rain are seen dancing throughout the commercial. In the commercial, Victoria offers a chance to Rain to enter into a dancing competition together, but Rain declines. But as soon as he sees Victoria practicing hard for the competition, Rain opens up and decides to help her. Victoria is the daughter of a rich family and her parents are against her dancing and kidnaps her during practice. Rain and Victoria use their phones to capture the video of themselves dancing and are able to successfully enter the competition.

On the other hand, a documentary of Victoria when she was attending a Chinese dance academy before her debut can be seen and is gaining a lot of attention from fans.

Victoria is currently on MBC’s We Got Married with 2 P.M.’s Nichkhun and they are the first foreign couple to be on this show.

On a report release on the 17th of July, he revealed that he was about
to cast Rain in his new movie, The Expendables, but was unable to do so
because of conflicting schedules.


KBS 2TV’s ‘Entertainment News’, aired on Jul.17th, had an exclusive
interview with ‘Sylvester Stallone’.

“I’ve not visited Korea, but I know the country’s people.
I’ve almost featured Rain in this movie.”
“I think he knows that. I was going to cast him as actor ‘Jet Li’s
son or brother in this movie, but he was scheduled to hold a concert
tour at the same time as the shooting of the movie, so I couldn’t help
it.” he felt deep regret about not working with Rain.

Rain has recently become the source of a hot issue in Korea due to his latest financial decision. The popular artist / actor sold off every single one of his shares of J.Tune Entertainment.

Rain was previously the majority shareholder of J.Tune Entertainment, an entertainment company that he is signed to.

Other shareholders of the company, mainly average working folks who invested small sums (small sums in the big picture but large investments from their perspective), are in anger as Rain’s departure made the share price drop to a new low of about 28 cents. This price is very low compared to $27, the price that the shares were going for when Rain first became the majority shareholder and when many invested into the company.

Another controversy is the fact that J.Tune Entertainment paid Rain approximately $23 million to sign a contract with them – and Rain was the company’s majority shareholder, which some argue that he could have had control over how much would have been paid to himself by the company. Small-time shareholders argue that Rain abused his position as majority shareholder to pay a gigantic sum of the company’s capital, which ultimately is the shareholders’ money, to himself.

J.Tune Entertainment made $12.6 million in revenue during the period that Rain was with them. Some of the shareholders are apparently trying to put together a lawsuit against Rain; if it’s determined that Rain committed foul play, he could be charged for embezzlement among other various offenses.

However, those that are familiar with the entertainment industry say that there is no problem with the contract. J.Tune Entertainment might have only made $12.6 million after having invested $23 million in Rain, but since his contract with them will last until late 2011 (October 2011), there is still a lot of time for Rain to generate revenue for the company.

Also, Korean Financial Supervisory Services, the government agency that oversees the financial market, says that they have no problem with this matter. Their explanation is that although Rain was the majority shareholder, he wouldn’t have had control over how much he was paid by J.Tune as it was a matter that the Board of Directors decided on, not Rain.

An industry analyst stated that the future of J. Tune Entertainment could be stormy depending on how people view Rain’s liquidation of the stock. If they view it as a break up / split from the company or rather a financial maneuver. Hopefully, things will all work out. Rain recently completed his Love Tour concert series in Japan.
