KARA shows tears on preview of next week’s SBS’s “Strong Heart”




Recently, a preview of the members of KARA guesting on SBS’s “Strong Heart“ featuring the girls crying their hearts out over the past few months of controversy was aired at the end of the latest episode.

The girls came together for their first Korean activity since their “Jumping” promotions five months ago in support of fellow member Hara’s role in SBS’s “City Hunter.”

Although they were able to liven up the atmosphere with their sweet dances, it was obvious to all that they weren’t able to hide their many wounds caused by the contract dispute earlier this year. The girls burst out into tears as they reflected back over the past several months.

Seungyeon stated, “So many things have changed in just a few months,” while Hara added, “A lot of misunderstandings came about.”

It was leader Gyuri that showed the most tears, however, as she said, “I had no one to turn to.”

KARA talks about Matsumoto Jun & others on Korean variety show, SBS’s “Strong Heart”


On May 17th, KARA guested on SBS’s “Strong Heart” and talked about an experience they shared with Arashi member, Matsumoto Jun.

Seungyeon revealed, “We once guested on a Christmas special with a lot of other popular artists. It was cool for us to see stars that we had only heard names of.” The program Seungyeon mentioned is Asahi TV’s “Music Station“, a four-hour live program that featured Japanese artists like Arashi, SMAP, News, Koda Kumi, and Hamasaki Ayumi.

Kang Ho Dong butt in to comment, “So for example, it’d be like Won Bin, Jang Dong Gun, and Rain in one show.”

After much laughter at his witty comparison, Seungyeon continued, “After completing our stage, we saw Matsumoto Jun in the elevator. We’re all such avid fans that we weren’t able to hide our excitement. Goo Hara began talking to him first, and Nicole told him that Jiyoung was his fan.”

Jiyoung revealed, “I like him the most, but unfortunately I wasn’t there. In Japan, minors can’t work past 9 PM. After hearing that the unnis met him, I felt really regretful about my age.”

Seungyeon concluded, “We later saw him doing our ‘butt dance’ for ‘Mister‘ on a TV show. It earned a lot of headlines, so we were so thankful for that.”

The message showed Nicole’s love and care for fellow member Gyuri.

Netizens who read the message are commenting, “What a beautiful friendship,” “Nicole’s adorable promotion for goddess’s birthday,” “It’s so nice to see them getting along well.”

Netizens also stated, “this turned down the rumor about members’ relationship after the KARA incident. We hope their friendship lasts.”

KARA has ended their dispute with their management company, DSP Media and is currently involved in various promotions.

LG Electronics revealed on June 1st that they chose KARA to be the Japanese CF models for their upcoming cellphone brand , LG ‘Optimus Bright’.

A representative revealed, “To celebrate the launch of our new ‘Optimus Bright’ smartphone in mid-June, we have decided to partner with popular girl group KARA because of their youthful and lovely image which complements our product.”

KARA will also be releasing a new Japanese single titled ‘Go Go Summer Bright‘, which will be used for the CM and be promoted at the same time.

The LG ‘Optimus Bright’ is the Japanese variant of the ‘Optimus Black‘, but with some slight modifications. The CM and print advertisements will be launched starting June 17th.

The track list for KARA's fourth Japanese single, "Go Go Summer", has been unveiled.

Following the release of the cover images, the official track list for KARA's fourth Japanese single, "Go Go Summer" has now been unveiled.

Their new title track, as well as the theme song from the hair dye commercial they were featured in earlier in the year are included in the single. And, as seen below, a special track entitled "To Me" will be included only in the C version of the single.

KARA thanks their fans at 2nd official fan meeting

KARA recently held their 2nd official fan meeting and thanked their fans for their consistent support.

On the 11th, KARA held their 2nd official Korean fan meeting–called ‘Things We Want to Say to You Now‘–at 6PM in Seoul’s indoor Jamsil Gymnasium. This fan meeting was reportedly filled with much emotion as it was their first fan meeting since reports of the group contract disputes earlier this year.

During the fan meeting, the five members all delivered their current state of mind to their fans.

Goo Hara said, “All the members of KARA have been eagerly looking forward to this day. In the last five months, we have all suffered… The hardest thing for us during that time was wondering if we’d get to see our fans again. We talked amongst ourselves because incidents came up from many misunderstandings and now we understand each others hearts.”

Maknae Kang Jiyoung said, “Now that the chaos has passed, we can stand in front of our fans as a united KARA. We were all worrying and struggling to do our best before coming forward today. Our fans gave us much affection and encouragement–as if nothing happened between the five of us–even during the times when we couldn’t carry on with our activities. Close entertainment representatives also helped us during that time.”

Han Seung Yeon said, “Over anything else, I believe the love and encouragement from fans has helped us to come together again. I cannot thank you enough and my heart is forever in debt to all of you.”

Nicole said, “Today’s fan meeting is a day to repay our fans who have been looking over us with a caring heart; we want to reciprocate this to our fans. We want to be your fans and for you to return as stars, not only for today but from this moment forward during every moment we meet with our fans.”

Leader Park Gyuri closed the fan meeting with, “KARA’s true rebirth is today. While we were united even before this, we will show you a more solid KARA from now on… We will show you, our fans, only our bright and happy sides now. We also know that we must work even harder than we have ever worked before. We won’t forget our feelings from today and will work hard. Please watch over us. Thank you and we love you.”

Meanwhile, the five girls talked honestly with their fans and performed eight of their hit songs, including ‘Jumping‘, ‘Mister‘, and ‘Lupin.’ In addition, Rainbow appeared at KARA’s fan meeting as guests and performed ‘A‘ and ‘To Me.’

KARA back in Japan to promote their new song, “Go Go Summer!”

Popular idol group KARA appeared at NTT Docomo’s “Optimus Bright” event as an image character on June 17th.

It has been awhile since all five members of KARA came back to resume their activities in Japan, and Kang Jiyoung of KARA greeted the reporters with, “Everyone, it has been a long time~!”

At the event, KARA danced and sang their new single, “Go Go Summer!”, which is scheduled to released in Japan on the 29th. Their new dance is titled “Kara Para”, and when the leader of the group, Park Gyuri, made a mistake, she said, “I will work harder”, to the crowd.

At the end of the event, all the members of the group said together, “Please continue supporting KARA!”

Girl group KARA has set yet another milestone for themselves in Japan!

KARA’s fourth Japanese single, “Go Go Summer“, has sold 114,000 copies during its first week of release. As of July 11th, it’s in second place on the Oricon Weekly Chart.

“Go Go Summer” is KARA’s second single to sell over 100,000 copies during its first week, following their third single, “Jet Coaster Love“, which sold 123,000 copies during its first week.

This is a first for any foreign female artist in the Oricon Singles rankings.

With this new addition to their growing list of accomplishments, KARA’s “Mister“, “Jumping“, “Jet Coster Love”, and “Go Go Summer” have all made it to the top five in the Oricon rankings chart.

On July 12th, a special clip of Korean girl group KARA’s trip to Tokyo DisneySea aired on Wentz Eiji’s segment of the NiTele news program, “Sukkiri“.

On the program, KARA hung out with TV personality Terry Ito. The girls got to experience Tokyo DisneySea for the first time, by meeting their favorite Disney character Minnie Mouse, and also rode the Tower of Terror. At night, Wentz Eiji, who is known as the ‘Disney master’, joined the girls. He took them shopping at the Duffy (The Disney Bear) store, which can only be found at Tokyo DisneySea, and ended the night with the nighttime show, “Fantasmic“.

For the July 25th episode of ‘HEY! HEY! HEY! Music Champ‘, KARA appeared for the show’s 700th special episode.

On the program, the popular Korean pop group sang “Jet Coaster Love” live and also featured a hilarious lengthy interview segment.

KARA will be releasing their third full-length album on September 9th, but for some fans, that’s simply too long of a wait.


Comprised of 9-10 tracks, it looks like their third album contains all-new original songs. The limited edition of “Step” will include a bonus track and a 32-page booklet.

KARA releases teaser for “Step”!

With KARA’s comeback just a few days away, the girls have finally released a teaser video for their new album, “Step“!

They’re looking as gorgeous as ever, and though the teaser video doesn’t give much away in terms of what we can expect in terms of sound, it’s definitely boosted everyone’s anticipation for their new work.

More Girl Group Members From Abroad Thrive in K-PopAs K-Pop goes global at furious speed, who are the girl group members that are thriving in this fast changing industry?

The recently unveiled T-ara member Dani grew up in America since she was four years old. She’s tall and beautiful and it’s hard to imagine she’s still only a kid. Some netizens have said, “She’s probably 15 years old since she lived in America”, and they couldn’t hide their amazement at how mature Dani looks. She is the latest addition to the girl group members to come from abroad.

In the ‘National Girl Group’ Girls’ Generation there are members Jessica and Tiffany who are from abroad. It isn’t that these girls have American names for style, but these two were actually born and raised in America. Their impact on the team was deeply appreciated when Girls’ Generation officially kicked off their international promotion and the two members were able to lead series of interviews in fluent English.

In Wonder Girls there are members Yubin and Hyerim. Yubin joined the group to replace an outgoing member and she had made a strong impression with her rapping skills in English. Hyerim goes a notch further with her ability to speak Korean, English, Mandarin, and Cantonese fluently.

Group Kara has members Nicole and Han Seung Yeon who’ve lived abroad. Nicole was born in America and early on as a member of Kara she was loved by the viewers of KBS ‘Golden Bell’ for her cute Korean pronunciation. She contributed in a big way to increase the popularity of Kara in Korea.

2NE1 is another group with many members who’ve come from abroad. Out of the 4 members CL, Park Bom, and Sandara Park have lived outside of Korea. Sandara Park was famously known as ‘Boa of Philippines’ before she debuted and CL speaks English, French, and Japanese fluently. CL is always leading the interviews when the group is promoting abroad.

Lastly, f(x) has three members from abroad. Krystal and Amber were born in America and Victoria is a Chinese national. Combined, f(x) members can speak Korean, English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

In a recent broadcast of KBS ‘Win Win’ Boa has mentioned how difficult it was to learn English and Japanese so she could promote internationally. As K-Pop goes global it is only natural that K-Pop groups are made of members of diverse background and having international members can become a big advantage as these groups branch out internationally.

KARA’s perfume ‘KARA 5 Jewel’ being sold in over 1,200 stores in Japan



Girl group KARA‘s signature perfume ‘KARA 5 Jewel (K5J)‘ officially began its off-line sale in stores across Japan on June 18th.

‘K5J’ is being sold at over 1,200 shops in Japan, including 750 stores of major Japanese record company ‘TSUTAYA‘ as well as at major cosmetic multi-shop ‘Tokyo Komachi‘.

This is the first perfume KARA has released with their name on the line, and will now be sold in 8 different Asian countries. As of June 18th, K5J also went on sale in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore through major online beauty corporation ZALORA, and will also begin selling in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and more beginning this July.

KARA’s agency DSP Media had teamed up with premium lifestyle brand 3CY to create the perfume in Paris. The girls are reported to have actively participated in creating the perfume, visiting the factory themselves.

The girls remarked, “We are glad more fans overseas will be able to have access to our perfume, which was created as a way for us to thank the fans for their unending support.”
