BoA’s mother’s latest book, “The Golden Rule,” confessed of a time when BoA’s family struggled through financial hardships in the past.

She stated, “In 1995, our family was living a comfortable, normal life. One day, someone we knew suggested that my husband run for election in a local assembly.” BoA’s father ran in the mayoral election, but unfortunately failed to secure a win despite many believing that he had the possibility. Four years later, he ran again.

BoA’s family was already in considerable financial difficulty after the first run. The second run only increased their expenses beyond anything they could possibly cover. After meeting his second bidding failure, the family was put through unexplainable hardships. “The only thing we had left were sighs. People say that the only thing that increases is debt, and it’s true.”

The lowest point for the family struck in 1999. BoA’s mother began selling milk and confessed that she truly had no idea how to survive, as the only experience she had was being a housewife.

Fortunately, the eldest son, Kwon Sun Hwon, was accepted to Seoul University as a scholarship student and began working part-time jobs. With her second son as a senior in high school and BoA just beginning her training, she began to work harder than ever on her milk business.

“The people I met while selling milk made me think of a lot of things. It was a great experience that allowed me to understand the feelings of people.”

BoA debuted soon after in 2000 and her mother quit selling milk in order to become an insurance broker. However, those two years were said to be the longest time of her life, much like an endless tunnel.

Korean superstar BoA has announced that she will be back in Japan for a set of Christmas lives.

This year, she will host her Christmas concerts at the Tokyo International Forum, Hall A. Previously, she held a spring live this past summer, “BoA LIVE TOUR 2010 ~IDENTITIY~,” to promote her newest album.

This Christmas show will be a one man live with her as the star, and shall take place on December 20th and 21st for two nights only. Tickets go on sale November 20th to the general public.

Although BoA has been promoting her new album in Korea, it is nice to see her lining up shows for the Christmas season. It is traditional for Japanese artists to have Christmas and New Year’s shows, and it just goes to show how acclimated she is to the Japanese music scene.

SM Entertainment released a smart phone application of Korean singer BoA's sixth repackaged album "Copy&Paste" today.

SM announced through a press release that they have launched the application for BoA's album in free (light) and paid (pro) version in collabration with music service provider Neowiz Internet, making her the fifth SM artist to have a smart phone application for a record.

The pro version, which costs 7.99 dollars, features full-length tracks from "Copy&Paste," music videos as well as behind-the-scenes footage, photo gallery and a clock, while the light edition includes a 30-second preview of the songs and teaser videos.

"Copy&Paste" features a total of 13 songs with 11 of the tracks from the six full-length album "Hurricane Venus" and two new tunes including "Copy&Paste" and ballad "I'm Okay," which was written by singer Wheesung.

BoA promoted her latest album on various televised music programs in late September.

We reported some time ago that BoA was starring in an upcoming U.S. dance flick directed by Duane Adler and produced by Robert Cort.

According to recent news, BoA has been preparing for the film with an acting coach and will begin filming early next year. BoA addressed that she is most concerned about the delivery of her lines and the choreography.

Acting isn't new to BoA. She has made an guest-appearance on the Korean sitcom Golbaengi (Korean Snail) in 2000, voice acting for the Japanese and Korean version of "Over the Hedge", and will make a special appearance in the upcoming Korean drama "ATHENA: Goddess of War".

BoA also plans to release another Japanese single before heading back over to the U.S., as well as holding the X'mas” LIVE 2010 concert in Tokyo, Japan, on December 20th and 21st.

International star BoA began filming for SBS’s new drama, “Athena“, set for broadcast in December.

The drama’s production company, Taewon Entertainment, stated on October 25th, “BoA has recently finished her first filming for the drama as the role of a charismatic top singer. The scene was of her character receiving protection from her bodyguard, Jung Woo Sung, in Japan. She showed her true worth even in the additional filmings held in Korea as well.”

Last month allkpop reported that BoA is scheduled to release a new Japanese single titled ‘I See Me.’ Recently, BoA’s official AVEX website uploaded a preview for the upcoming track.

In addition to being BoA’s new single, the track will also be used as a commercial song for Japanese audio equipment manufacturing company Audio-Technica.

Japanese singer Akanishi Jin only recently joined Twitter about a week ago, but he has already made his fame known, interacting with fellow celebrities Shirota Yu, Shirota Jun, BENI, Crystal Kay, and most notably, BoA.

The latter has especially been involved in his tweets right from the beginning, as within a few hours of starting his account, they were already play fighting.

Well apparently some people took that comment about BoA the wrong way, and Jin took to Twitter to clarify his interactions with her, and then proceeded to “fight” with her some more.

Whatever their relationship is, it’s hilarious to see honest public interaction between idols on Twitter, and bonus points are given for all of it being in English.

On April 27th, BoA shared a photo of herself drapped across a large taiko drum. She explained through a tweet, “I’m taking a break from practicing taiko drums.”

Although the photo was taken in the spirit of fun, here’s an artistic quality to it because of the dramatic way she’s balancing herself on the drum

Singer BoA has been gaining much attention for revealing a picture in where her face is even smaller than a glass of beer.

On April 30th, BoA tweeted, “Enjoy your Friday Night! Cheers” and “Yummy” and uploaded pictures to go with the tweet.

In the picture, BoA is holding up a glass of beer with an orange on the rim with a smile on her face. Even with very little make-up on, her radiant beauty caught the eyes of netizens.

BoA tweets about Lee Sora’s remake of ‘No.1'
BoA recently showed her thanks for Lee Sora’s remake performance of her song, ‘No.1‘.

On May 9th, she tweeted, “Lee Sora senior’s ‘No.1′ was breathtaking. Thank you for reinterpreting it in such a cool way. Today is a day in which I’ve been motivated [to do better] since the morning!”

On an episode of MBC’s “I’m A Singer” that aired on the 8th, Lee Sora chose BoA’s ‘No.1′ as the song that she wanted to perform.

Lee Sora captivated the audience with the rock version of the song, singing with a powerful yet mysterious feel, and BoA was also touched by the special remake performance of her song.

The singer received 2nd place with her performance, achieving her highest place ever while appearing on “I’m A Singer”.

On May 30th, popular singer BoA celebrated her tenth anniversary since her Japanese debut, and she took the time to record a short message to fans for her official website!

“Hello everyone, it’s BoA! Today, May 30th, marks 10 years since I debuted in Japan. I think that it’s thanks to all the fans who supported me that I was able to reach such a wonderful day. On this site, there’s been a countdown until my 10th anniversary since about a month ago. I think that from now on a new 10 years has already begun, and I want to make it another 10 years of memories with everyone.”

Already 10 years into her Japanese career, BoA has become a beloved veteran of the industry, and fans should look forward to the next 10 years as well!

Singer Miura Daichi recently released the DVD of his live show last year, “DAICHI MIURA LIVE 2010 -GRAVITY-“, and a clip from it has recently been uploaded!

The live was recorded at Zepp Tokyo, featured BoA as a secret special guest, and the two sang their duet “Possibility“, which was featured on BoA’s album, “IDENTITY”.

BoA also tweeted a link to the video so her fans could see their duet.

Miura and BoA’s voices blend beautifully, and the two seasoned singers give an amazing performance of this R&B hit.
