Brown Eyed Girls Jea & Ga-In cover Lady Gaga with Yoari




On today’s episode of SBS Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate, Brown Eyed Girls‘ Jea and Ga-In made an appearance on the show along with ex-Brown Eyed Girl member Yoari to put on a performance of Lady Gaga’s Telephone.

Although it may be a bit hard to hear the words due to their Engrish, they got to show off their vocal abilities by hitting the right notes during the song.

Yoari also got to perform her latest single Excuse Me live on stage, showcasing her extremely talented vocals.

Brown Eyed Girls are going to Japan for a showcase



It looks like all the girl groups are looking to do some Japan promotions in the near future.

The Brown Eyed Girls will be joining girl groups from Korea that will or have already make inroads in Japan.

They opened their official Japanese website on the 9th and announced that they will be doing Japanese promotions in August.

On August 6th, they will perform Japanese versions of their songs at Tokyo Harajuku Astro Hall. This will be their first Japanese showcase.

Their company said, “We don’t have specific plans other than the showcase as of now but we have high expectations for Japanese promotions.”

I guess the competition of the girl groups will continue overseas.

Following many other idol group’s footsteps, it has been confirmed that Brown Eyed Girls will be recording a special Japanese album for their debut showcase in Japan.

On the 13th, an official stated the following, “Brown Eyed Girls will debut in Japan around August. The Japanese album is pretty much finished, and only requires some finishing touches.”

The album will include many of their past hits, however Abracadabra in particular will be recorded in Japanese due to its massive success back in 2009.

There is no doubt that these girls will be very successful in Japan, along with KARA who will be showcasing their Japanese version of Mister. It is estimated by the company that around 10,000 fans will attend the event.

Brown Eyed Girls‘ drinking habits were revealed on tvN’s Dining Table of the Gods.

The members of Brown Eyed Girls shared their drinking habits while discussing the heredity of alcohol and obesity. In particular, the other members of Brown Eyed Girls shared,

“When Ga-In gets drunk she calls 2AM’s Jo Kwon and Seulong, whom she has close relations to.”

Apart from Ga-In, it was found that Narsha had the gene for heavy drinking. Then, Jea and Ga-In took this opportunity to share Narsha’s drinking habits. Jea said, “When Narsha gets drunk she follows the other members around telling them ‘I love you’” and Gain said, “Narsha drinks alcohol as if it were water when she is on the computer. Sometimes, she drinks beer in the van after finishing up a day’s work.”

On the other hand, the members shared their personal health care secrets as well. Miryo explained, “Because we often have to skip meals, she always take multi-vitamins, Omega-3, and antioxidants.”

Narsha went on to share that she frequently eats sea eel.

As revealed back in July, the Brown Eyed Girls are joining the stampede of kpop artists venturing into Japan with an album of their own.

As promised, the anticipated album was released in late August with an eighteen-song tracklist. With no digital release, fans who didn’t manage to grab a hard copy of the album have been patiently waiting to hear the new recordings in full, and at long last, a high-quality recording of Abracadabra in Japanese has made it to the net! I don’t know about you, but Abracadabra is one of those songs that never gets old for me; it’s refreshing to see the song being reborn for a new set of promotions.

Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra” dance swept over Korea, and soon people were dancing to it left and right. It got to the point where a Korean Olympics ice skater danced to it on the pedestal during the awards ceremony, and now the classic dance strikes Japan!

On the 25th of last month, Brown Eyed Girls debuted in Japan with the album, “Sound-G“. Now the girls are planning to hold a meeting event with IKKO, a makeup artist and broadcaster.

The event will be held at the Tokyo Midtown Atrium on the 13th with 300 people attending, of which 150 will be chosen from the registered members at the Brown Eyed Girls’ official Japanese Fan Club.

At this event, the Brown Eyed Girls and IKKO will be talking about various subjects including recently popular Korean makeup and fashion, and spread the “Abracadabra” addiction with a performance of the dance.

The girls are off to a good start in their Japanese debut, with the “Abracadabra” ringtone (in Korean and Japanese) coming in first and second, and a second place ranking with their actual song on the Japanese iTunes.

Having made a successful debut in Japan, the Brown Eyed Girls‘ have been quite busy in Bangkok, Thailand by performing at the 2010-2012 Visit Korea Year concert held at Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel.

Although the concert took place 3 days ago on September 10th, photos were recently released, and the girls looked amazing as always!

On September 13th, Brown Eyed Girls launched an “Abracadabra” dance event in the Tokyo Roppongi Midtown Atrium.

Japan’s famous makeup artist and talent IKKO also participated in the event. IKKO, who appeared on the stage after the MC’s introduction, proclaimed, “In order to not lose to Brown Eyed Girls, I came wearing a bondage outfit.” IKKO wore a sexy black mini dress for the event.

IKKO introduced herself as the Brown Eyed Girls’ cheer captain. She also added that there will be a surprise event with the group during the upcoming “2010 Korea-Japan Festival” to be held in Japan on October 2nd.

During the event, Brown Eyed Girls sang three songs, including the Japanese version of “Abracadabra”. The members actively taught the audience how to do the “Abracadabra” dance and performed it with IKKO.

Meanwhile, Ga-In will follow up Narsha with the release of her own solo album in October.

On the most recent episode of KBS2TV’s Entertainment Weekly, actor Song Joong Ki and girl group Brown Eyed Girls were interviewed and were asked various questions.

One of the most popular questions asked in any interview is whom your ideal type is. When asked, Song Joong Ki answered, “Ga-in is my ideal girl because she is younger than me…” However, the reporter then revealed, “You whispered to me earlier that your ideal girl was Narsha…”, which put the actor in a tight situation.

Narsha was disappointed by his “lies”, stating, “…Song Joong Ki is an easy-to-get guy. His ideal girl changes day and night.”

On the other hand, Ga-in didn’t seem to mind, as she stated, “Still, I feel good. Like me in the evening as well.”

Korean girl group, BROWN EYED GIRLS performed yesterday at the Roppongi Hills Arena for the ‘Japan-Korea Festival‘.

Each member brought their own personal charm, but performed like adult idols. Signing enthusiastically their hit song “Abracadabra”, the girls cheerfully greeted the audience afterwards with “Pleased to meet you!”

The event commemorates the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Korea.

Some unfortunate news to share. Nega Network’s music engineer, Oh Jae Won (36) passed away on the dawn after midnight of October 11th due to a sudden heart attack.

Oh Jae Won became well known through working with the members of Brown Eyed Girls. He was known for engineering some memorable hit tracks including Brown Eyed Girls ‘Abracadabra‘ and Jo Kwon + Ga-In’s duet, ‘We Fell In Love.’

Brown Eyed Girls members Jea and Ga-In visited a service for him on the 11th, and all of the members are planning to visit his funeral together on the 12th.

Our condolences goes out to Oh Jae Won and his family, and may he rest in peace.

It’s been reported that Brown Eyed Girls will be officially advancing into Japan next year.

On November 12th, their agency told Star News, ”Brown Eyed Girls will produce a Japanese version of their hit track, ‘Sign‘, and will fully begin promotions in early 2011″.

They continued, “This year, the members have been working through their individual schedules and group stage performances, while simultaneously consorting to their Japanese activities. Next year, they will have a more aggressive Japanese schedule and finally be able to meet their fans.”

For 2010, the group concentrated more on their individual activities, such as Narsha and Ga-In promoting ‘Bbiribbaba‘ and ‘Irreversible‘ respectively. Jea also participated in extra promotions in Thailand, through which she gained a considerable Thai fanbase.

Earlier in the year, their smash hit ‘Abracadabra‘ earned the top ranks on various Japanese music charts; both Japanese and Korean versions of the song place 1st and 2nd on Mu-Mo, the biggest music downloading site in Japan.

After they’ve wrapped up the year with their two-day concert on December 10th and 11th, Brown Eyed Girls will begin planning for a full Japanese promotion cycle.

A handful of Brown Eyed Girls fans are apparently displeased with the actions of the hosts of Japanese comedy show, “Shabekuri 007“.

The show aired on November 15th, and the members performed their hit, “Abracadabra“. Miryo served as the main speaker and translator for the group, as she is fluent in Japanese.

What became a slight controversy is when the hosts decided to try out the “Abracadabra” hip dance themselves while slowly moving towards the girls, which caused the girls to scream. Some netizens were not comfortable with the situation, and suggested that it was harassment.

However, Brown Eyed Girls’ management agency stated differently, commenting, “It was an ad-lib. It’s simply a difference in culture. Since they’re having activities in Japan, they should adjust to the cultural tendencies on the shows. The members did not feel bad about it.”

They added, “In fact, Japanese fans of K-pop who are aware of Korean culture actually apologized. They were even worried that the Brown Eyed Girls might be traumatized. They said sorry.”

Yet another reason to look forward to the new year!

The management agency for Brown Eyed Girls, Nega Network, released a statement recently about their activities as a group. “Currently, they’re working on their album, and they plan to make a comeback in January of next year,” the representative stated.

They added, “The members have been busy these days with their solo activities, and although they’ve had some great results, they plan to meet their fans as a group next year.”

The upcoming album will be their 4th. Fans are already in a state of high anticipation since their last single, “Sign“, was released a year and 3 months ago. The girls, knowing that they’ve got some high expectations to meet, are reportedly working hard on ensuring that their release will be a success.
